Mistaken Goal: Where Student Affairs & Technology Meet

"...technology is not something that happens to us. It is something we create. We must not confuse a tool with a goal. We must, therefore, be sure that technology serves the fundamental purposes of higher education." Stanley N. Katz in "In Information Technology, Don't Mistake a Tool for a Goal"

Me

My name is Kevin Guidry and I am a higher education administrator and researcher. Formerly an Information Technology Fellow at Sewanee: The University of the South, I am enrolled full time in Indiana University's Higher Education and Student Affairs program as a PhD student and working as a Project Associate for the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). As indicated by the title and tagline of this webpage, my primary interests lie in the areas where student affairs and technology intersect. Thus far, this interest has primarily been concentrated in the area of residential computer networks ("ResNet") as reflected by my previous employment supervising a ResNet program and my current membership in the ResNet Applied Research Group. I am also a co-chair of the NASPA Technology Knowledge Community. My interests are becoming broader as I continue to learn and gain experience. In particular, I perceive many areas of overlapping interest and research in traditional student development theory and computer-mediated communications.

My resume, last updated on March 21, 2008, can be found here in Adobe PDF format. Please contact me if you would like a copy with my current address and phone number.
